If you were to ask what it is that gets us out of bed in the mornings it would be the genuine joy we experience from working with our hands. Take away our custom factory and cutting-edge technology and you are left with a group of craftsmen who live to create beautiful things.
While our premises are no longer located in the suburb of Sydenham, it has always been our goal to carry the baton handed to us by Sydenham Joinery’s original owners, Bernie Hunt and John Baker.
A new era
The transition from Sydenham Joinery to Sydenham Bespoke Joinery reflects the significant impact of owners Grant Weston and Richard Jones. Since acquiring the business in 2016, Grant and Richard have infused it with their combined expertise and vision. Their journey began in the early 2000s, with Grant “door knocking” for work, while Richard joined as an apprentice installer just a year later. Both moved into management well before purchasing the company, making ownership a natural progression for this dynamic duo.
Together, they bring a wealth of knowledge and complementary skills to Sydenham Bespoke Joinery, ensuring that the tradition of high-quality craftsmanship remains at the core of the business. For them, it is essential to preserve the heritage of traditional carpentry while embracing modern technology, without compromising on the bespoke quality that defines their work. This is why incorporating ‘Bespoke’ into the company name felt like a fitting reflection of their dedication to personalised, premium joinery services.
Every member of our team brings their own unique set of skills to the design and production table here at Sydenham Bespoke Joinery. The longevity of our staff base is something we are very proud of, and some of our employees have been with us for over a quarter of a century. We also regularly take on apprentices, as it’s important to us that our accumulated knowledge base gets handed down to the next generation.
Some of our clients have been with us for four decades now, and we think that speaks volumes about our dedication to innovative design and production, quality materials, and our desire to exceed customer expectations. The list of architects, builders, and homeowners who engage us to craft beautiful joinery is growing all the time, and our in-house design service, with its melding of imagination and functionality, sees our clients returning year after year, genuinely excited to see where the next journey will take them.
