These art-deco inspired doors are, at the request of the client, as much pieces of art as they are functional joinery, and at 2.7m high, they certainly make a statement. Designed to open both ways, the doors are clad with rotary cut birch veneer and solid brass inlays. The untreated brass was added after the doors had been stained and lacquered offsite, to allow for the natural patina process to take place. We also built the front door and the hidden WC door directly beside it. Care had to be taken to design both brass doors differently but in a way that coordinated, as they were adjacent to each other.
